What’s in the box?
- 50 Game Cards (200 Phrases) and 1 Rule Card. Each card has 4 phrases; two on each side.
What are the card categories?
Each phrase comes from everyday local life in Washington. It’s a wide range, but here are the main ones: Food, Activities, Slang / Phrases, Animals, Sports, Music and many more!
How do you play?
There really is no wrong way to play Seattle Gabs! Most friends just have fun taking turns figuring out the phrases together.
If you’re playing in teams all guessers should be on one side sounding it out together and the other team on the opposite side so they can see the answer and let you know when you get it right.
The main goal is to have fun and embrace your local side!
For the competitive ones we came up with these rules.
- Team to go first is decided with a coin flip – Team 1.
- Team 2 starts a timer for 60 seconds or an agreed amount of time.
- Team 1 begins reading the gibberish facing them out loud – the correct answer is on the other side. If a guesser correctly figures out the local phrase, the team may flip another card and continue to do so until the timer runs out.
- A team can skip a card at any time, but loses 1 point for it.
- When time runs out, score 1 point for all correctly guessed phrases and subtract the skipped cards.
- Teams switch turns and continue until 10 points are scored.
